Well, we travelled for three hours to the Blades at the Beach.  Six of us decided to make the trek and we
had a great time.  Blake actually suited up and fenced and lost to Mike in the finals (first event he has lost
in 6 yrs), big congrats to Mike.  Blake is still amazed at the new timing.  Matt discovered that teaching
someone to do something and actually doing it when you want to are really too different skills.  The top
honors goes to Karen on this day though.  She decided to come and support the team by fencing sabre.
She made the top eight in the mixed event proving to everyone that her's is a strong D in sabre.  Then
after a great result in the mixed sabre she went on to win the women's sabre event.  So the Knights of
Siena continues to dominate the sabre in the NC/SC area.  We would also like to say congratulations to
Doug Guild on making the top 4 and earning his D in sabre.  See Doug you can teach an old dog new
tricks.  Thanks goes out to Mark Scott and his volunteers for setting up the event.  Maybe next year we
can go early and actually see the beach.
Here she is the women's champion of the
Blades at the Beach NC/SC tournament.
Karen Blakeborough, after a 7 month break
from sabre to start her work on epee.  She
victory put her on top of the NC point standing
list.
Here are all the women finalist in sabre at the
Blades at the Beach and one small child who
is very proud of his mommy!
Mike stands proud after winning the mixed
open sabre at the Blades at the Beach.  He
earned it by defeating his teammates and his
coach, Blake in a very tough bout that went
15-13.
