The Knights of Siena Fencing Academy opened is doors in 1992 in Ft. Lauder dale
Florida and was founded by Alan Blakeborough.  It was the first of its kind in Florida
and was one of about 10 in the entire United States.

In 1994 Alan Blakeborough moved to Albany, New York to the Hudson Berkshire
Division.  The Florida Knights of Siena Fencing Academy contibued and was  run by a
group of former asst. Instructors lead by Adam Devany.  The Knights of Siena Fencing
Academy of Mechanicville opened September 1994.  The 36,000 sq. ft. was the largest
fencing facility in the United States and was the headquarters for all  the Knights of
Siena Fencing Academies in the North Atlantic Section.

In 1998 the Knights of Siena Fencing Academies decided to open fencing schools in
the southeast section of the United States where the idea began in the first place.  
Once the SES schools were in place the KOS facilites would continue to open moving
west.

In 1999 Knights of Siena opened our first fencing school off of Tyvola Rd.in Charlotte
NC.  The area now boasts two fencing facilities (neither of which are KOS)  The Knights
of Siena Fencing Academy now has four locations in North Carolina.

The Knights of Siena Fencing continues today with its mission to make fencing
available to everyone who would like to learn the sport throughout the United States.
