Well, what a weekend. We went to a A rated sabre tournament and turned it into a B rated tournament. Congrat's to the four horseman for dominating the open sabre. Bobby had an incredible run with a crushing 15-4 defeat in the final four. The same fencer that beat Becker 15-14 in the round of 8. He then lost in the final to the other A rated fencer, his only lose at all during the day, including the B fencer that was in his pool. Oh, did we mention that he fenced epee in the morning also ?Mike who had a hell of a come back from Kevin to get into the 8. Will who pushed Becker and losing only by 5 with a 15-10 score. There is no doubt that you guys are the powerhouse here in the southeast over the next two years.
We had an strong showing in the e-under epee event with 7 fencers entering and walking away with silver and bronze was great. Good job Will and Bobby. Congrats to Karen for having the guts to get out there and compete in epee. Believe it or not she has better point control then Blake, it's scary!!!!
Our biggest KOS salute goes to Drew. Seeded 16th after the pools he had to fence his teammate Patrick and then the #3 seed from CFC and won the upset. But that was not the amazing part. The next match was against the #7 seed from CFF and he was losing 1-8 at the break. HE CAME BACK AND WON 15-14!!!!! WOW!
These are the highlights. I am sure that I am missing some awesome touches or other great bouts that we had while we were there but until I am reminded of them this is were our report will end. Next year foil????
Drew has two great upsets during the tournaments
Bobby walks away with two sword in the stone trophies from epee and sabre
Will stuns the crowd with his 2nd place epee finish
